Death Note in Hindi: Is There an Official Hindi Dub and Where to Watch
Yes, with one caveat. As of our check on 27 October 2026, the one official source we found says Hindi, Tamil and Telugu dubs of the 2006 Death Note anime were added to the Anime Times Prime Video Channel in India in August 2025. We could not confirm Hindi audio on Netflix or anywhere else, and catalogues change, so check the title page before you subscribe.

What Death Note is
Death Note is a 37-episode anime made by the studio Madhouse and directed by Tetsuro Araki. It aired on Nippon Television in Japan from 4 October 2006 to 27 June 2007, and it is based on the manga of the same name. It is a psychological thriller built around a notebook with supernatural powers and a long battle of wits between two sharp minds.
There are also two compilation TV films, Relight: Visions of a God (2007) and Relight 2: L's Successors (2008), which retell parts of the series. To avoid confusion: this page is only about the 2006 anime. The live-action films, the Japanese live-action drama, the 2017 American film and the Netflix-hosted live-action titles are different productions with different casts, and their language options are not covered here.
The Hindi dub story
The clearest report we found comes from Anime News India, dated 21 August 2025. It says the Anime Times Prime Video Channel added Hindi, Tamil and Telugu dubs of Death Note. At launch, dubbed episodes 1 and 2 were streaming, with more promised in the coming weeks. The same article says the channel had added the Japanese-language version earlier, on 26 June.
A fan-run watch guide, Anime Mirchi, goes further and says two episodes were released each Thursday and that the last three episodes arrived on 18 December 2025, completing all 37 episodes in the three languages. We could not open the platform to confirm the episode count, so treat that part as reported, not verified. We found no report naming the voice cast or studio behind the Hindi dub, and we have not watched it, so we cannot say anything about its quality.
Separately, the English-language history is well documented: Viz Media licensed the series in North America, and Adult Swim aired the English dub there from October 2007. None of that points to a Hindi version.
How to check availability yourself
Start on Prime Video. Search for Death Note and look for the Anime Times channel on the title page. Prime Video channels are usually sold as separate add-on subscriptions, but the announcement we read did not state a price, so check the current cost in the app before you commit.
Once an episode is open, use the audio and subtitles menu (in most apps this is a speech-bubble or settings icon) and look for Hindi in the language list. If only Japanese or English appears, the dub is not available on your device or account, and you can try another device or contact the platform. Do the same on Netflix India: open the title, then read the Audio and Subtitles line in the details. Do not assume Hindi is there just because a third-party list says the show is on Netflix.
Our table reflects one check on 27 October 2026. Licences move between platforms, so a title can appear or disappear without notice.
What to know before you start
The series has 37 episodes in one run, so it is a manageable binge compared with long-running shonen titles. It is a dark, tense story about crime and morality, so it is aimed at older teens and adults; check the age rating shown on the platform, because we did not find an official Indian rating to quote.
If you want to avoid spoilers, skip the fan wikis and episode guides. Unofficial uploads and download sites exist, but they are not legal, often have poor sound and subtitles, and we do not recommend or link to them. Sticking to the official channel also supports the people who made the dub.
