Synopsis
A Tamil family entertainer from director Venky Atluri that centres on a middle-aged, wealthy man played by Suriya. Reports describe a blend of humour and emotion built around household duty, with themes such as surrogacy and an unconventional age-gap relationship, pitched as a drama about family values.
Vishwanath & Sons 2026: what kind of film this is
Vishwanath & Sons 2026 is a Tamil-language family entertainer directed by Venky Atluri, a filmmaker better known for Telugu films. That detail alone makes it worth noting: the project pairs a Telugu-trained director's sense of domestic drama with one of Tamil cinema's biggest male stars, Suriya.
From the coverage we could find, the film is positioned as a household story rather than an action showcase. Press descriptions mention humour, emotional weight and a sense of duty inside a family, and they say it touches on surrogacy and an unusual age-gap relationship. How the film actually handles those ideas is something we cannot judge, because we have not seen it.
One reported detail about the lead role is that Suriya plays a middle-aged billionaire who is also a pistol shooter. Treat that as a reported character outline rather than a full description, since the sources we read do not go further.
Release date, streaming and where to watch
The makers announced a worldwide theatrical release for 14 August 2026, and the UK classification listing for the film carries the same date. That puts it in the Independence Day window, a slot Tamil studios often target.
For viewers asking where to watch, The Week reported on 8 September 2026 that Netflix had confirmed a digital premiere on 11 September 2026, after some earlier reports had pointed to 14 September. The same report says Netflix would offer the film in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. We have not verified this on Netflix directly, so check the platform before planning a viewing.
We did not find a confirmed runtime or Indian certificate in the sources we used, so those are left out here rather than guessed.
Cast and crew worth knowing
Suriya leads, with Mamitha Baiju as the female lead according to the announcements and trade listings. Radikaa Sarathkumar and Raveena Tandon are also listed in the cast, and film-database pages add names such as Kaali Venkat and Bhavani Sre. Roles for most of them have not been described in the material we found.
The film is produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi under the Fortune Four Cinemas and Sithara Entertainments banners. Sithara is a Telugu production house, which fits the cross-industry feel of the project.
If you are choosing whether to watch, the useful questions are tonal ones. Do you like family films that mix comedy with sentiment? Are you comfortable with stories that deal with sensitive family choices? Suriya fans looking for a quieter, relationship-driven role may find this a different kind of outing from his action titles.
