Reporting Live (2026)

Reporting Live 2026: an investigative thriller about sand mining

Reporting Live 2026 is a Hindi investigative thriller set around illegal sand mining, a subject that gets far less screen time than it deserves. According to the trailer coverage, its lead characters are Sandhya, a reporter played by Parineeti Chopra, and Vinod, her cameraman, played by Deven Bhojani. The reports describe it as inspired by true events, though they do not say which ones, and we have not tried to guess.

The setup draws on a familiar form, the journalist who follows a story past the point where it is safe, so the question is what a fresh setting adds. Sand extraction sits at the meeting point of local business, politics and the environment, which gives a writer plenty to work with.

Release date and where to watch

Trade and entertainment reports announced a global premiere on Netflix on 9 October 2026, and that date appears in several outlets. It is a streaming release, not a theatrical one. We have only seen the announcement-stage coverage and not confirmation from the platform itself that it went live, so check Netflix directly. Runtime and certificate were not stated in the sources we found and are left out here.

Cast and crew

The film is Dhruv Tripathi's feature directing debut, and he wrote it with Mihir Jadhav. The reported supporting cast includes Amol Palekar, Adil Hussain and Shekhar Suman, with Nassar, Saswata Chatterjee, Pitobash Tripathy and Sameer Kochhar also listed in one report. Partha Kiran Thakur and Joshua Shirsath are named as producers.

A first-time feature director paired with a lead actor and a seasoned supporting bench is a combination that can go either way, and we are not predicting which.

What to expect

From the trailer-stage description, expect a grounded, issue-driven story rather than a glossy action film: a pair of media workers, a powerful opposition and a danger that builds with each question they ask. Since it arrives straight on a streaming service, it is also an easy choice for a single-sitting watch at home.

The cast list is worth a second look. Palekar, Hussain, Suman and Nassar are all names with long careers, so the film has the option of giving the antagonists and officials real texture rather than treating them as stock villains. Whether it does so is exactly what we cannot say before watching.

This page is a preview. We have not watched the film and do not judge its acting or writing.
