Synopsis
A Telugu romantic entertainer set in the Godavari villages. A kind-hearted auto driver falls for a spirited engineering student, in a light family-friendly story that leans heavily on the scenery and relaxed rhythm of the river districts of West Godavari.
Godari Gattupaina 2026: a river-district romance
Godari Gattupaina 2026 is a Telugu romantic comedy-drama whose title points to the banks of the Godavari. Reports place the story in West Godavari towns such as Velpuru, Relangi and Bhimavaram, and describe the aim as recreating the relaxed feeling of an evening by the river.
The central pairing, as described, is a kind-hearted auto driver and a spirited engineering student. It is a classic romance setup, so the interest will lie in the local flavour, the humour and the supporting family characters rather than in plot surprises. We cannot say how well the film delivers on that, as we have not watched it.
It is also reported as the directorial debut of Subash Chandra, who is said to have worked earlier on short films, which gives the project a first-feature energy worth keeping in mind.
Release date and where to watch
The film opened in theatres worldwide on 8 May 2026. For streaming, a guide reported that it started streaming on Amazon Prime Video on 29 May 2026, three weeks after release. Check Prime Video's Telugu listings to confirm current availability in your region, since catalogues differ from country to country and titles can rotate out of a library without much notice.
Runtime and certificate were not confirmed in the sources we used; one listing even showed placeholder values, so we leave both out. Box-office numbers were also not available from a reliable source.
Searchers should know the title appears with small spelling variations on different sites, so Godari Gattupaina and similar forms may both be worth trying.
Cast, crew and who it suits
Sumanth Prabhas and Nidhi Pradeep are the leads. Jagapathi Babu has a key supporting role, described in one guide as the father of Nidhi's character. Reenu plays Kanaka Mahalakshmi and Laila plays Jhansi, according to a news report, and the wider cast lists include Rajeev Kanakala, Devi Prasad and Viva Raghav. Spellings of some names vary between sites.
Subash Chandra directs and Abhinav Rao produces under Redpuppet Productions. Music is credited to Naga Vamshi, cinematography to Sai Santhosh and editing to Anil Pasala.
This is aimed at viewers who enjoy gentle, family-friendly Telugu romances set in rural landscapes, and anyone who likes films where place is almost a character. If you want high-stakes action or a dark story, the described tone is likely not what you are after.
