Synopsis
A Telugu romantic entertainer centred on Aditya, played by Anand Deverakonda, a young man whose story is reported to unfold in London and to revolve around his romance with Vaishnavi Chaitanya's character. The title signals the first part of a two-chapter story.
What Epic - First Semester 2026 is
Epic - First Semester 2026 is a Telugu romantic drama that doubles as the theatrical directing debut of Aditya Haasan, whose earlier credit mentioned in coverage is the web series 90s. The title has the word First Semester in it, and one outlet mentions a possible follow-up called Final Semester, so it is framed as the opening half of a longer story. Whether that second part is actually planned is not something we could confirm.
The lead is Anand Deverakonda, paired with Vaishnavi Chaitanya. Filmibeat lists their characters as Aditya and Kadali. The film is reported to be set at least partly in London, which is the one concrete plot detail the sources we saw agree on.
Release date and where to watch
Filmibeat lists the theatrical release as 11 September 2026, matching a Gulte headline that gave the same date; one other site mentioned July, which looks like an outlier. For streaming, Deccan Chronicle reports that Netflix acquired the digital rights and set 9 October 2026 for Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam versions. Filmibeat lists the same Netflix date.
Because that date has now passed, the practical advice is to look for the film in your Netflix catalogue, where availability can vary by region and language. Filmibeat also lists a runtime of 149 minutes and an A certificate, meaning it is restricted to adults.
The team behind the camera
Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya are named as producers under the Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas banners, with Srikara Studios credited for presentation in one report. The composer is listed as Hesham Abdul Wahab, which will matter to anyone who follows how Telugu romances use music to carry emotion.
Supporting names reported include Sivaji, Vasuki, Srinivas Gavireddy and Kalyan Shankar, who is known as a director of the film MAD, in an acting appearance. We have not seen the film or any complete cut of it, so we say nothing about the acting, writing or pacing.
Who it suits
A film that carries an A certificate and a romance premise is aimed at adult audiences, so it is not a family-viewing pick by default. If you follow Anand Deverakonda's career, or you like Telugu romantic dramas that move their setting abroad, it is worth a look on Netflix.
If you want to know how the film was received, read viewer and critic coverage after watching rather than before, because a preview like this cannot predict that. We also have not confirmed any official sequel announcement, so treat the First Semester title as a hint, not a promise.
