Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar (2026)

Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar 2026: a Malayalam police thriller

Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar 2026 is a Malayalam crime thriller directed by Shahad Nilambur. The title reads roughly as a phrase about suspects at first sight, which fits a premise in which the officers at a police station turn into suspects in a murder. The film is also written about as Pradhama Drishtya Kuttakkar, so you may see both spellings in listings.

The lead is Aleena Abraham, who becomes a civil police officer through a compassionate appointment, a route to a government job offered to dependants of employees. Her station receives a murder case, and the investigators soon find themselves inside the circle of suspicion. It is a neat inversion of the usual procedural, where the badge is a shield.

Release date, Netflix and where to watch

Sources disagree on the theatrical date. The Week and Sacnilk give 11 September 2026, in the Onam season, while Filmibeat lists 25 September, so we use the first and flag the conflict. The Week also reports a Netflix premiere on 9 October 2026, in Malayalam with dubbed Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi versions; Sacnilk lists no OTT date, so confirm on Netflix. Runtime and certificate were not found.

Cast and crew

Parvathy Thiruvothu leads, in what reports describe as her first police role in Malayalam cinema. Mathew Thomas, Vijayaraghavan, Unnimaya Prasad and Sidharth Bharathan are among those named in the cast. The screenplay is credited to PS Subramanian and Vijesh Thottingal, music to Mujeeb Majeed, and editing to Chaman Chakko. 11 Icons Film Productions is the production company, with Arjun Selva named as producer by Hollywood Reporter India. Sources disagree on the cinematographer, so we leave that name out.

What to expect and who it suits

Expect a whodunit-flavoured thriller where the tension comes from institutional loyalty and distrust inside a station. Viewers who enjoy police stories from the inside should find the setup appealing. Parvathy Thiruvothu in uniform is a notable casting angle given that reports stress it is her first police role in Malayalam, and the supporting list mixes veteran and younger names, which suggests a station full of distinct personalities.

The multi-language Netflix release, if it went ahead as reported, makes it an easy entry point for viewers outside Kerala who do not follow Malayalam cinema closely, and a useful test of how well regional crime stories travel in dubbed form. If you want the original voices and rhythm, the Malayalam audio is the version to pick.
