Durlabh Prasad Ki Dusri Shadi (2025)

Durlabh Prasad Ki Dusri Shadi 2025: what kind of film is it?

Durlabh Prasad Ki Dusri Shadi 2025 is a Hindi family comedy-drama built on a neat reversal: instead of parents hunting for a groom, a son has to hunt for a bride for his widowed father. The setting is Varanasi, and the trigger is a condition set by the father of Murli's fiancée, as described in the film's listings.

That condition drives the plot, but the more interesting thread is that Durlabh Prasad reconnects with Babita, someone from his earlier life. The film frames the question of whether older people are allowed to chase companionship on their own terms, a subject mainstream comedies touch less often than youthful romance.

The tone suggested by the cast list is gentle small-town humour, with a wedding-season backdrop and a number of eccentric relatives.

Release date and where to watch

Bollywood Hungama lists the theatrical release as 19 December 2025, a date that FilmiBeat also gives, although one listing we saw used 13 December, so treat that as an outlier. The runtime is given as 2 hours 10 minutes and the certificate as U/A.

For streaming, both sources point to JioHotstar. A FilmiBeat article published on 23 March 2026 says the film was already available there, but we could not confirm an exact premiere date, so we do not state one. Check the app for current availability, since catalogues and regional listings change from time to time.

The cast and the people behind it

Sanjay Mishra plays the title character and Mahima Chaudhry plays Babita. Vyom Yadav appears as Murli, with Pallak Lalwani as Mehak, Pravin Singh Sisodia as Brij Narayan and Shrikant Verma as Manchu Mama. Siddhant Raj Singh directs from a story by Prashant Singh, with dialogue by Aadesh K Arjun, and Ekansh Bachchan and Harsha Bachchan produce under Eksha Entertainment. Anurag Saikia is the music director.

Mishra is widely associated with warm, slightly rumpled everyman roles, which makes him a natural fit for this premise, though we are judging from the casting alone.

Who will enjoy it

We have not watched the film, so there is no verdict here. If you like family comedies with a smaller scale, a Varanasi setting and a theme about second chances, the premise fits that mould. Note also that reports we saw described its theatrical run as weak; that is a commercial matter, not a measure of quality, and may simply mean the film is easier to catch at home.
