Synopsis
A single-film re-edit that merges Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion for the franchise's tenth anniversary. It tells the saga of the kingdom of Mahishmati and two generations of a royal line in one continuous cut, with enhanced picture and sound and one previously unseen scene.
Baahubali: The Epic 2025 is a re-cut, not a sequel
The first thing to know about Baahubali: The Epic 2025 is that it is not new story. It is a single-film re-edit of the two-part saga, Baahubali: The Beginning from 2015 and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion from 2017, assembled to mark the franchise's tenth anniversary. According to Wikipedia it combines footage from both films with technical enhancements and one previously unreleased scene, while some scenes and songs were trimmed to fit.
So the question for a first-time viewer is different from the usual one. You are not asking whether the plot is fresh, you are asking whether a compressed version is a good way into the world of Mahishmati. For anyone who has never seen the originals, it is a convenient route; for those who know them well, the draw is the big-screen polish and the chance to spot what was cut.
Cast, crew and runtime
S. S. Rajamouli directs and co-wrote the screenplay, from a story by V. Vijayendra Prasad. Prabhas plays several roles, including Amarendra and Mahendra Baahubali, with Rana Daggubati as Bhallaladeva, Anushka Shetty as Devasena and Tamannaah Bhatia as Avanthika. Ramya Krishna, Nassar, Sathyaraj, Subbaraju and Adivi Sesh also appear. Arka Media Works produced, with M. M. Keeravani on music and K. K. Senthil Kumar behind the camera.
Runtime depends on the listing. Wikipedia gives 225 minutes, other listings give figures from about 224 to 240 minutes, and an early report of more than five hours was later superseded. Plan for somewhere near three hours forty-five. The CBFC certificate is reported as U/A 16+.
Release date and where to watch
The re-release opened worldwide on 31 October 2025, with a pre-release in select US, UK and Irish theatres on 29 October. The combined cut was released in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. On streaming, Wikipedia says JioHotstar and Netflix reportedly acquired digital rights, and the Hindi version began on Netflix on 25 December 2025. Availability can differ by language and country, so check your own app.
This is a good fit for viewers who want the whole story in one sitting, for families revisiting a favourite, and for anyone curious how a decade-old spectacle holds up when condensed. It is less suited to those who prefer to watch the two originals at an unhurried pace.
Which version should you pick
If you are new to the franchise, the single cut spares you a two-film commitment, but you give up the extra songs and scenes that were trimmed. If you already know the originals, the compressed pacing is the thing to judge for yourself. Telugu is the original language of the combined cut; Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam versions were also released, so choose the audio you prefer.
We have not watched this re-edit and do not rate it here.
