Ustaad Bhagat Singh (2026)

Ustaad Bhagat Singh 2026: what this film is

Ustaad Bhagat Singh 2026 is a Telugu-language action comedy built around Pawan Kalyan in the role of a police officer the film calls ACP Ustaad Bhagat Singh. It is directed by Harish Shankar and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, one of the busiest production houses in Telugu cinema.

The project has a long paper trail. According to its public record, it was first announced in September 2021 under a different working title, Bhavadeeyudu Bhagat Singh, and was renamed in December 2022. Filming began in April 2023, and the release slipped for years afterwards. That history matters because it tells you the film arrived with unusually high expectations from fans who had waited a long time.

It also reunites actor and director after Gabbar Singh (2012), a title Telugu audiences still bring up whenever Harish Shankar's name appears next to Pawan Kalyan's. We have not seen the new film, so this page sticks to what has been published about it rather than judging how well it lands.

Release date and where to watch

Wikipedia and the British Board of Film Classification both list a theatrical release on 19 March 2026, timed with the Ugadi festival. Trade coverage had earlier pointed to 26 March, and the film was reportedly moved forward, so you may still see the later date in older articles.

For home viewing, the Wikipedia entry reports that Netflix began streaming the film on 16 April 2026 in Telugu, with dubbed Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam versions, and that Zee Telugu holds the satellite rights. We saw this OTT date in a single source, so check the Netflix listing in your region before planning an evening around it.

The listed running time is 154 minutes, which is long for a comedy-leaning action film, so it is worth settling in with that in mind.

Premise and the people behind it

The premise, as summarised in published material, is a two-timeline story. A teacher who has risen to become a chief minister mentors a young man, who grows into a fearless, principled officer. Later, a ruthless politician chasing power turns into the main danger. We are deliberately stopping there to keep the page spoiler-free.

On screen, Pawan Kalyan leads, with Raashii Khanna as Shloka and Sreeleela as RJ Leela. R. Parthiban, K. S. Ravikumar, Gautami and Rao Ramesh are among the listed supporting names. The screenplay credit goes to Dasaradh and Ramesh Reddy, with Harish Shankar credited for the story.

The songs were composed by Devi Sri Prasad and the soundtrack came out on 12 March 2026 through Sony Music India. Ayananka Bose handled the cinematography and Karthika Srinivas the editing.

What to expect and who it suits

Go in knowing how it was received. Wikipedia describes the critical reaction as mixed to negative and the commercial result as a disappointment, and the same page gives a box-office figure that we could not confirm elsewhere, so we are not repeating it. Opinions on a star vehicle like this vary a lot, and fans of the lead often rate it differently from general viewers.

What the film is built to deliver is clear from its genre tag: mass-style action, comic relief and a star in a uniform. If that mix appeals to you, and especially if you enjoyed the earlier collaboration between the same actor and director, it is a reasonable weekend pick. If you prefer tightly paced stories, the 154-minute length may test you.
