Synopsis
Listed under the English title The Race, this Romanian street-racing action film (original title Cursa) is described as following a gifted mechanic drawn into a dangerous contest in which ten of Europe's top drivers compete for a cash prize and the cars of their rivals.
Which film is The Race 2025?
The title The Race 2025 is easy to confuse. Searches also surface an Irish short film from 2026 and unrelated Indian racing titles, so it helps to be exact: the film we describe here is the Romanian action picture Cursa, which listings give the English title The Race. We found it only through database and listing sites, not through an official studio page, so the match is reasonable but not fully confirmed, and we flag this page as having limited verified detail.
We have not watched the film. Everything below is a summary of what listings say, not an assessment.
The premise as listed
According to the listings, the story centres on a gifted mechanic who enters a high-stakes street race to secure something for his family; one listing says it is for his brother's future. The race brings together ten of the most talented drivers in Europe, who compete for a large cash prize and for ownership of every car in the contest. The protagonist is also described as being pulled into a conflict between two rival groups fighting for control of the racing scene.
One listing names the mechanic Andrei, while another gives different character names to different actors, so we avoid assigning roles to specific performers.
Cast, crew and release
Anghel Damian is credited as director; one site adds Millo Simulov as co-director, which other listings do not, so the directing credit is not settled. Listed cast includes Cristina Ștefania Codreanu, Codin Maticiuc, Denis Hanganu and Andi Vasluianu. The Film Catalogue names Voltage Pictures as a production company.
Box Office Mojo gives 24 October 2025 as the earliest release date, in Romania. Running times differ between listings, from about 97 to 105 minutes, so we omit a figure. We found no confirmed Indian release or streaming platform; if you want to track one, watch the distributor announcements rather than relying on aggregator pages.
What to expect, and who it suits
Racing films live or die on how convincingly they stage speed and rivalry, and the premise here follows the familiar underground-contest template: an outsider with mechanical talent, a ruthless field, and a prize that is bigger than money. We cannot say whether it rises above that template.
If you enjoy car-culture action and are curious about a European, non-Hollywood take on the genre, it may be worth tracking. If you need a confirmed Indian-language release or a known platform before you decide, wait until more verified information is available.
