Soohe Ve Cheere Waleya (2025)

Soohe Ve Cheere Waleya 2025: a love story across the border

Soohe Ve Cheere Waleya 2025 is a Punjabi romantic drama directed by Janjot Singh. The title borrows the words of a well-known Punjabi folk song, which signals the register the film is aiming for: longing, separation and old songs rather than glossy city romance.

According to listings, the story is set in the 1990s near the India-Pakistan border. Sooba, played by Nirvair Pannu, runs a telephone shop and is well educated, yet he longs for the land his family left behind. On Lahore radio he hears the poetry of Naazo, a mute woman in Lahore played by Tanu Grewal. How a poet who cannot speak is heard on the radio is part of what the film promises to explain, and we do not reveal it here.

Some sources add that a secret communication link forms between the two after army wireless sets come into their hands, and that smuggling, deception and the lingering aftermath of Partition run through the plot. We have not watched the film, so these are descriptions of the premise only.

Release date and where to watch

The earliest release date we found is 10 October 2025, listed by the UK film classification board and by Box Office Mojo for overseas markets such as the UK and Australia. Those listings show a limited international run. We could not find a confirmed Indian release date or a streaming platform, so we are not naming either.

Running time is also unclear, because sources range from about 135 to 150 minutes, so we leave it out rather than guess. For updates, the producers' and director's social media pages are the most direct place to look for streaming announcements.

Cast, crew and who it may suit

Nirvair Pannu and Tanu Grewal lead. Sukhwinder Chahal, Janjot Singh and Bir Singh are also credited as cast in one listing. Bir Singh, Sukhi Dhillon and Nav Lehal share the writing credit, and the producers named are Harpreet Shahpur, Preet Inder Singh, Sunpreet Singh and Mickey Sra.

This looks like a fit for viewers who enjoy period romances, Punjabi poetry and music, and stories rooted in Partition memory. Anyone expecting a loud commercial comedy should adjust expectations. Professional reviews were not available in the sources we found, so judge it by the trailer and your own taste.

A note on searching: the title is spelled in several ways online, including variants of Soohe and Cheere, so if a search returns nothing, try shorter fragments of the name or search by the lead actors instead. The film also appears to have had a limited release outside India, which explains why English-language coverage is thin.
