Ghaati (2025)

Ghaati 2025: the film in brief

Ghaati 2025 is a Telugu-language action crime drama directed by Krish Jagarlamudi, who is better known for period and socially minded stories than for out-and-out crime thrillers, which is part of why this project drew notice. The screenplay credit goes to Chintakindi Srinivas Rao, and the music is by Nagavelli Vidya Sagar. It runs about 155 minutes according to reference listings.

The announced premise follows a bus conductor, Sheelavathi, and her childhood sweetheart Desi Raju, a medical lab technician. Both belong to the Ghaati community, and both are pulled into the cannabis trade that local kingpins control by keeping people in debt. When the pair start working with a stronger, liquid form of the drug that the kingpins' existing routes cannot easily carry, the balance of power begins to shift.

That is as far as this page goes; the later turns are left for the viewer.

Cast, crew and release history

Anushka Shetty plays Sheelavathi and Vikram Prabhu plays Desi Raju. The antagonist side lists Chaitanya Rao Madadi as Kundhul Naidu and Ravindra Vijay as Kaashtal Naidu, while Jagapathi Babu appears as police commissioner Vishwadeep Rao and Jisshu Sengupta as the businessman Mahaveer Mandhani. The producers are Yeduguru Rajeev Reddy and Saibabu Jagarlamudi under First Frame Entertainments, with UV Creations presenting.

The film was first announced for 18 April 2025, but the date slipped, and one report attributed the delay to visual-effects work. It finally opened in theatres on 5 September 2025.

Where to watch Ghaati

Reference listings give Amazon Prime Video as the streaming home, with the arrival dated 26 September 2025. We did not find an official platform announcement in the sources we checked, so confirm in the Prime Video catalogue, including which language tracks are offered, before you plan a viewing.

Some listings also mention Tamil alongside Telugu for the theatrical run; treat language details as something to verify on the platform.

Who this suits

A viewer looking for a crime story with a woman at its centre, set among a marginalised community and a local economy built on debt, will find the outline interesting. Fans of Anushka Shetty's action-leaning roles are the clearest audience. We have not watched the film, so there is no verdict here on how well it delivers on that outline.

A practical note for searchers: because the film changed its date once already, older articles still circulate with the April 2025 date. Prefer the September 2025 theatrical date and the platform listing when you plan a viewing, and treat any single listing site with caution until it matches the others.
