Synopsis
A struggling Hyderabad waiter dreams of a lavish life and is mistaken for a wealthy pharmaceutical CEO who looks exactly like him. A lucky break slowly turns into a web of deception and danger. The film is a Telugu action comedy with a dual role, where mistaken identity drives the jokes and the thrills in equal measure.
Das Ka Dhamki 2023: a double-role action comedy
Das Ka Dhamki 2023 is a Telugu action comedy thriller in which Vishwak Sen does three jobs at once: he stars, directs and co-writes. The story rests on a classic mix-up. A waiter who wants an easy, luxurious life is taken for a rich pharma boss who is his double, and the swap draws him into a world far more dangerous than he bargained for.
Look-alike plots are as old as cinema, so the interest here is in tone. This one aims at mass entertainment, blending jokes, songs and action rather than playing the premise as a slow psychological puzzle.
Handling the lead in a dual role while also running the whole production is a heavy workload, so it is fair to watch how the film balances performance and direction. We have not watched the film, so we make no judgment on how it plays.
Release date and where to watch
The reference entry gives 22 March 2023 for the Telugu theatrical release, after earlier plans for February 2023 slipped. A Hindi-dubbed version is listed for 14 April 2023. Some listings show 21 March, which probably reflects paid previews or regional timing.
For streaming, the same entry lists Aha as the platform, with the Telugu version premiering on 14 April 2023 and a Tamil dub on 12 May 2023. Another listing mentions JioCinema with a 2024 date, but we could not confirm that from an official page, so check current availability yourself.
The running time is listed as 151 minutes. We did not find a verified certificate, so we leave it out.
Cast, crew and who will enjoy it
Vishwak Sen plays both the waiter and the look-alike executive. Nivetha Pethuraj is the lead actress, and the supporting cast includes Rao Ramesh, Tharun Bhascker, Akshara Gowda, Hyper Aadi, Ajay and Rohini. The story is co-written by Prasanna Kumar Bezawada, Leon James composed the soundtrack, and Karate Raju is credited as a producer alongside Vishwak Sen.
Expect a loud, commercial entertainer with comedy sequences built around mistaken identity and a villain track that gives the double role its edge. It will suit viewers who enjoy Telugu mass comedies and heroes who play both sides of a swap, and less so those who want a restrained thriller. The premise is told from the point of view of an ordinary young man who suddenly finds a way into a luxury life.
If you are choosing between the Telugu original and the Hindi dub, note that the Hindi version arrived about three weeks after the Telugu theatrical release, so reviews and discussion online often refer to the Telugu cut first. The film runs about two and a half hours.
