Synopsis
A young man from a modest family drifts from casual gambling into online cricket betting, chasing quick money. As the stakes climb he is pulled into a dangerous criminal network, while his honest policeman father becomes the moral counterweight in this Kannada action thriller.
Brat 2025: a betting-world thriller from Kannada cinema
Brat 2025 is a Kannada-language action thriller directed by Shashank. The idea at its centre is topical: how a young man with no safety net is lured by the promise of fast money from online cricket betting, and how an apparently harmless habit grows into something he cannot control.
The film pairs the protagonist's world with his father, a constable, which sets up a tension between easy money and a life of honest, modest work. That father-son axis is the emotional hook that separates a betting thriller from a plain crime drama.
We have not watched the film, and the points here come from the published synopsis and cast and crew listings.
Cast and crew
Darling Krishna plays Kristy, with Manisha Kandkur, who is credited as making her Kannada debut, as Manisha. Achyuth Kumar plays the policeman father, Constable Mahadevaiah, and Ramesh Indira and Dragon Manju are listed among the supporting cast. Krishna and Shashank previously worked together on Kousalya Supraja Rama, so this is a reunion of a director and actor who have a track record together.
The film was produced by Manjunath Kandkur under Dolphin Entertainment. Yadunandan and Ravi Chakravarthy are credited as writers, Arjun Janya composed the music, with singles including Brat Theory and a Sid Sriram vocal, and Abhilash Kalathi shot the film. Wikipedia lists the runtime at 153 minutes, though another listing gives a slightly different figure.
For viewers who track Kannada cinema, the combination of Arjun Janya's music and a crime plot is a familiar mix.
Release date and where to watch Brat
Brat opened in Indian theatres on 31 October 2025. Reports said a release across five languages (Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi) was planned, though sources vary on how that played out. One listing says it arrived on Prime Video on 28 November 2025; Wikipedia does not state the streaming platform, so check availability yourself before relying on this.
Who should consider it: viewers who like crime thrillers with a social angle, anyone interested in how fast-money schemes pull in young people, and Kannada-cinema followers. Early audience reaction was described as mixed in one source, so a viewer who prefers carefully paced narratives may want to read reviews from people who have seen it before deciding.
A note for families: stories about gambling and crime often include violence and mature themes, so look up the certificate for your region before watching with younger viewers, since we could not verify one.
